  75.   1. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING THE SCP-55

  81.    < All Models >
  82.      - Before installing the enabler and driver of the SCP-55, please make 
  83.        sure whether the Card Service and Socket Service are pre-installed in
  84.        your computer.  Most computers have been pre-installed, but there are
  85.        some exceptions which need installations.  
  86.  
  87.        If the Card Service and Socket Service are NOT pre-installed in your
  88.        computer, please install them first referring your computer's manual,
  89.        then install the enabler and driver of the SCP-55.
  90.  
  91.      - If your computer has a check box of {Use 32-Bit Disk Access} after 
  92.        the process of <<Controll Panel>> -> <386 Enhanced> -> [Virtual 
  93.        Memory] -> [Change], please do NOT check the box.
  94.      
  95.      - When you use the WAVE function with the slow processing computer, 
  96.        please use it in a low sampling frequency.
  97.  
  98.      - When the SCP-55 is connected with the connecter box MCB-3, which is
  99.        sold separately, do NOT insert the card in the state of the MIDI IN-
  100.        input.

  102.    < IBM ThinkPad Series >
  103.      - If your computer is IBM ThinkPad 330C, 330Cs, 340, or 555BJ, please
  104.        start Windows AFTER inserting SCP-55.  Do NOT insert or pull out the
  105.        SCP-55 during the play back.
  106.  
  107.    < Compaq Contura Aero Series or 400CX Series >
  108.      - If the WAVE function does not work well with the Compaq Contura Aero
  109.        Series or 400CX Series, please take the following #1 or #2 step to 
  110.        solve this problem.
  111.  
  112.        1. Find and click;
  113.           <<Contorol Panel>> -> <Power> -> <<Power>>.
  114.           There, you will find the {Power Management}, please establish it
  115.           with {OFF}.
  116.           
  117.        2. First, activate <Notepad> which is included in Windows, and open 
  118.           "system.ini" in the directory of "Windows."
  119.           Then, search "device=vpowerd.386" under the blacket of
  120.           [386 Enh]. If you find this line (if you cannot find it, you do 
  121.           not have to take these steps), insert ";" at the head of the line.
  122.

  125.           Lastly, save this file and re-start Windows.

  127.        *  Once you take a step above, you cannot use the advanced power
  128.           management function, but you will find no problem with Windows.

  130.           There is an exception with computers like Compaq which has 
  131.           original energy-saving function. If you use this kind of computer,
  132.           you can use the energy saving function which is one of the 
  133.           advanced power management function. 
  134.    
  135.    < If your WAVE file is played back uncorrectly. >
  136.  
  137.      - If you play back an WAVE file by < Media Player > or < Sound 
  138.        Recorder > which are included in Windows, there are cases that you 
  139.        hear the WAVE file played back very slowly, or hear some noise.  You
  140.        may avoid these troubles by taking steps below.
  141.  
  142.        1. Double-click the < Drivers > icon in the << Control Panel >>.
  143.           Then the << Drivers >> dialogue window opens, and you will see the 
  144.           list of Installed Drivers.
  145.  
  146.        2. Choose { Roland SCP-55 Driver } and click << Setup >> button. Then
  147.           << SCP-55 Information >> dialogue window opens, and you will see
  148.           the information about the SCP-55.
  149.  
  150.        3. Change the value of { Waveout Factor } as follows.
  151.           ( The factory preset value is { 20 }. )

  154.             Setup the value of { Waveout Factor } over { 30 }.

  156.           * When you hear noise;
  157.             Setup the value of { Waveout Factor } between { 0 } and { 10 }.

  160.   2. ABOUT THE SCP-55 CONTROLLER

  163.      The SCP-55 controller is an application which adjusts volumes of the
  164.      SCP-55. 
  165.  
  166.      <Mixing Level>
  167.           You can adjust the volumes of GS sound source, WAVE, Line input,
  168.           and MIC input by dragging each slider up and down.      
  169.      
  170.      <AD/DA Gain>
  171.           You can adjust the input to WAVE by dragging the A/D slider up and
  172.           down, and adjust the output by the D/A slider.
  173.   
  174.      <GS Controll> 
  175.           You can do a subtle adjustment of GS sound source.
  176.           You can adjust the Vol (Volume), Panpot, Rev (Reverb), and Chrs
  177.           (Chorus) by dragging each slider up and down.

  182.      Installing the SCP-55 Controller.

  184.          Following the enclosed "start up manual," please install the 
  185.          enabler, and the "scp55cnt.exe" will be copied into the "scp" on 
  186.          the hard disk, and the "scpmixer.dll" into "windows\system."

  188.      Starting Windows.
  189.  
  190.      Making the SCP-55 Controller registering groups.
  191.

  231.      Now the icon of <SCP-55 Controller> is registered into the group of 
  232.      <<SCP-55>>. By double-clicking this icon, you can start up the SCP-55 
  233.      Controller.

  235. 2.2  Notes

  238.      - If you adjust values by sliders, the values will be reflected in 
  239.        recording.
  240.  
  241.      - If you insert or pull out the card after starting up the SCP-55 
  242.        Controller, the values on the screen will be different from the 
  243.        actual values. Next time you move the sliders, the values will be at
  244.        one.
